A woman has married her cat in a bizarre plan to get around future landlords' no pets rules.

After previously rehoming three animals due to landlords who don't allow pets in their properties, the London mum of two, Deborah Hodge, decided to marry her precious cat India to bypass landlords' ban on pets.

According to the Metro, Hodge recently lost her job as a life coach and faces being evicted, meaning she will once again have to go through the trouble of finding a pet-friendly landlord.

Hodge decided to tie the knot with India at a civil ceremony in a southeast London park to show any future landlord how important it is for the pair to stay together.

Hodge said pets become part of the family and when her landlord ordered her to give up her previous cat she was devastated and couldn't go through it again.

"By marrying India, I need any future landlords to know that we come as a package and we cannot be separated under any circumstances as she is as important to me as the children," Hodge told the outlet.

"I refuse to be parted with her. I’d rather live on the streets than be without her."
