Local confectionery cognoscentes RJ's have introduced a new tasty treat to their repertoire - the Fabulicious Grape Sherbert Crunch.

The Levin-based confectioners are well-known for their licorice, including their popular Licorice Allsorts, Licorice Choc Logs and Raspberry-Chocolate Twists. The candymakers are also the owners of Fabulicious, a range spanning Sherbert Fizz and Raspberry Twisters for tongue-tingling treats.

And a new arrival is now available on supermarket shelves, featuring a sour sherbert centre and crunchy sherbert pieces encased in chewy grape licorice. According to RJ's, it will really "get your tastebuds going".

"Fabulicious Grape Sherbert Crunch might just be the tastiest shade of purple," the confectioner said on its social media channels.

And it's safe to say that licorice-loving Kiwis are eager to get their hands on the product, with many expressing their excitement on Facebook.

"Can't wait to try them," one woman wrote, with a second adding: "Now that sounds fun, I must try that."

Those who have already stocked up on the Sherbert Crunch are so far sharing positive reviews, with one writing: "Love these, new fave here".

"Basically Wonka's Nerdalicious," another said, with a third chipping in: "Try these! They are the goods."

RJ's began in 1995 when Levin local Roger Halliwell and his son Regan James travelled to North Dakota to source a 'make-your-own' licorice kit to fulfil a lifelong passion. By 1998, RJ's was firmly established as New Zealand's leading licorice brand and has continued to expand its operation, with their products now stocked in retailers across the world.

RJ's has since acquired several Kiwi brands including Mackintosh's, Oddfellows, Black Knight and the aforementioned Fabulicious. Also among their latest additions are Mackintosh's Creamy Hard Candy.
