A US couple expecting a baby got the shock of their lives when they stopped at a McDonald's for a bathroom break.
On Wednesday morning (local time), Alandria Worthy was on the way to hospital with her fiancé, Deandre Phillips, after her water broke. On the way, the pair stopped at a McDonald's in Atlanta for an urgent toilet break, New York Post reported.
The manager of the restaurant, Tunisia Woodward, found Worthy in the bathroom after she heard her screaming that her water had broken.
Woodward found Worthy lying on her back on the toilet, where she was screaming: "I'm in labour, somebody get the man in the car," the Daily Mail reported.
After finding the pregnant woman in the bathroom, the manager rallied her co-workers to help the expectant mother deliver the baby.
"I knew to tell my crew, 'We're having a baby today'," Woodward told 11Alive.
One of Woodward's co-workers called emergency services to get Worthy to the hospital, while Phillips and another employee helped deliver the baby.
"The ladies at McDonald's were at her front side, holding her hands," Phillips said.
New York Post reported that Nandi Ariyah Moremi Phillips was delivered in less than 15 minutes and promptly given the nickname "little nugget" in honour of her birthplace.
The owner of the Atlanta McDonald's Steve Akinboro said: "We don't just serve food. We strive to serve feel-good moments every day, and this was in fact the epitome of a feel-good moment for my team."
Akinboro gave the employees who helped deliver the baby $US250 [$NZ400] gift cards as a token of thanks for going above and beyond their daily duties.
