Khloé Kardashian's face has once again made headlines after the star used a filter on a video of her exercising at the gym.

In a clip shared to her 300 million followers on Instagram, the reality TV star went through her current full-body workout routine, including rowing, weighted squats, deadlifts and biceps curls, with cameo appearances from her trainer and four-year-old daughter, True.

Dressed in a neutral-tone sports bra with matching leggings and white Nike sneakers, the 38-year-old, who appeared to be wearing minimal makeup, opted to use a filter on the footage before uploading it to Instagram.

Called the 'beauty' effect, the filter smooths and blurs the skin, concealing any imperfections, and also slightly alters the user's facial features, including narrowing the chin and jaw and plumping the lips.

Despite plenty of positive feedback in the comments, with many applauding her dedication to the gym and swearing to try the workout, others called out Kardashian for her supposedly ever-changing appearance.

"What's happened to her face," one commented, with a second adding: "I didn't even recognise her!"

"I could barely recognise her," a third agreed, with a fourth writing: "Major filter! Why can't these people just be real?"

"I really didn't know who this woman was," said another.

Although the vast majority of comments went ignored, Kardashian couldn't help but swipe at one user, who asked: "Do you miss your old face?"

"No," Kardashian responded bluntly.

Replying to another who left the comment, "Try without filter", she hit back: "What does a filter have to do with the workout, queen?"

Other celebrities flocked to the comments to leave encouraging and supportive messages, with singer and actress Chloe Bailey writing, "You look so good", to which Kardashian responded: "Blushing! Thank you beautiful! Thank you for motivating me [sic]."

Other famous faces to praise Kardashian were actress Christina Milian and TV personality Evelyn Lozada.

The clip also attracted criticism for other reasons, with several calling out Kardashian for saying she couldn't take her daughter to school because she was having her makeup done for work.

"Today I was unable to take True to school because I have work - I start glam [makeup] at 9am so I can't make it. So I'm working out a little later," she told the camera.

"Kardashians trying to be relatable is the funniest thing ever!" one sniped in the comments, with another adding mockingly: "'I can't drop my kid off cause I gotta get my makeup done'."

It's not the first time Kardashian has addressed criticism of her changing appearance on social media. She has been frequently called out for editing and Photoshopping her pictures, as well as allegedly using body-altering filters on videos to appear slimmer, and earlier this year, copped backlash for arguing that clip-on bangs had "changed the shape" of her face.

The youngest of the three Kardashian sisters, the 38-year-old admitted to having had a nose job in 2019. In an episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians in 2021, she said she loved a "good filter, good lighting, and an edit here and there", and has previously revealed she uses injectables but isn't a fan of Botox.

"It used to bother me when people were [saying] I've had 12 face transplants. I'm like, 'Oh, my god, I have?' I was like, 'That's crazy'. It offended me," Kardashian said in an interview on the Not Skinny but Not Fat podcast last year. She added she "couldn't figure out why people thought that" as she claimed to have only gotten "one nose job that I love".
