Amid sky-high house prices and a surge in smaller new builds and apartments, the modern New Zealand homeowner is learning to handle the demands of family life with far less space than the generation before us enjoyed.

With floor space at a premium, customers have become inventive with creative solutions – they’ve invested in multi-purpose furniture, utilised vertical space, and explored innovative storage solutions like never before.

Leading manufacturer of consumer and commercial products LG has space-saving front of mind with its stylish, recently introduced 12/9kg WashTower™ All-In-One Stacked Washer Dryer – a compact combined laundry solution that boasts top-of-the-range technology that aims to deliver the best possible care for your clothes.

“For a customer looking for a new washer and dryer and looking to stack them, the LG 12/9kg WashTower™ is the natural evolution of that configuration,” says Dylan Cruickshank, Category Marketing Manager at LG NZ.

“It gives you all the benefits of a premium front loader washer and dryer, but in a single unit with a central, easy-to-use control panel.”

At just 60cm-wide, the LG 12/9kg WashTower™ houses a 12kg washer and 9kg dryer in a neat one body design that fits in a standard-sized laundry or kitchen cabinet space, and marrying the two appliances in a single unit spares you the expense and rigmarole of installing a bracket or shelf to stack them yourself.

Plus, one unit just looks better than two – and that commitment to aesthetics continues with the LG 12/9kg WashTower™ in two stylish colourways: Black Steel, and Forest and Beige, both featuring a luxurious finish and durable tempered glass doors.

Of course, good looks probably aren’t your main consideration. Ultimately, you want a product that does the job to a high standard and is convenient and simple to use – and it’s in these criteria that the LG 12/9kg WashTower™ stands out.

“On the LG WashTower™, the control panels for the washer and the dryer are together in the centre of the unit, so you can control them easily,” says Cruickshank.

“Because they work so closely together, when you're going to do a wash and a dry, it can actually preheat the dryer and it will give you an estimated time, because it already knows the weight of the clothes based on the sensors in the washing machine.

“But where it really gets good is with the LG ThinQ® app*, which lets you remotely monitor and manage the washing machine or the dryer from your compatible smartphone. You can set it to remotely start and then you’ll get alerts to tell you when the washing is done and when it’s time to hang it out or put it in the dryer.”

The LG ThinQ® app also lets you track your wash cycle history, diagnose and troubleshoot issues, and download additional wash cycles that you can pin to your control panel for easier access later.

The washer also comes with an AI Direct Drive Motor, a quiet and reliable mechanism that doesn’t rely on the belt and pulley system found in traditional washing machines. The AI Direct Drive Motor enables the drum to freely rotate or change direction, more closely emulating hand-washing and giving the user greater control when it comes to fabric care.∆

"By using AI Direct Drive, the washer can adjust the specific wash actions based on whether it's a heavy cotton fabric like denim or if it's a lighter cotton fabric like t-shirts. It’s pretty cool!"

The washer also features Turbo Clean 360 which enables you to shorten a typical cycle for a 5kg load to as low as 39 minutes – without compromising the quality of the wash.^

A traditional washing machine usually has one spout that sprays water over the clothes while it spins, but the LG 12/9kg WashTower™ has four jets in the door that vary in power to ensure the clothes get even coverage.

"By getting more agitation and sudsy water through the clothes, that's how you reduce the wash time, without compromising on quality," says Cruickshank.

When it comes time to dry your clothes, the dryer component of the LG 12/9kg WashTower™ performs an automatic condenser clean function to help maintain overall performance.#

The heat pump dryer is about as efficient as you can get, utilising a compressor instead of an electric heater to create hot air, and boasting a 9-Star energy rating. It also features a built-in sensor that saves more energy by detecting moisture levels and adjusting the drying time accordingly.

Its single-unit frame helps you save space in a smaller-footprint home, the centralised control panel adds convenience and the AI Direct Drive Motor delivers a great wash with advanced fabric care, while the sleek matte finish and colourways bring a premium design edge.

The LG 12/9kg WashTower™ offers an attractive aesthetic for Kiwis looking to upgrade their laundry. The future of laundry days has well and truly arrived.
