With the cost of living crisis continuing to pack a punch on our wallets, many of us will have given up our daily dose of barista-made caffeine now the average cost of a cuppa is sitting around $5.50.

But Aucklanders can rejoice this week as for three days, they can score a store-bought coffee for just $0.35. Yes, 35 cents. Here's what you need to know.

The initiative marks the 60th birthday of Aotearoa's first indoor shopping centre LynnMall, which will officially celebrate its diamond anniversary on October 30. The centre opened that day in 1963, offering the West Auckland community a variety of amenities, shops and services under one roof.

Throughout the month of October, LynnMall will be commemorating its milestone anniversary with a series of specials and activities that pay homage to its history, including 35c coffees (the cost of a cuppa back in 1963) from Monday, October 9 to Wednesday, October 11.

Shoppers can visit the customer service desk to secure their voucher (35c Eftpos, 40c cash), which can be redeemed at any of the six participating retailers: Bodrum Kitchen (a small), Espresso Caffe (medium), Kage (medium), Muffin Break (medium), Starbucks (short), and The Coffee Club (regular). FYI, there are only a limited number of vouchers available, and only one can be purchased per customer per day.

"We are so proud to have reached such a significant milestone and can't wait to gather with our customers, retailers and wider community to celebrate together," said LynnMall marketing manager Karla Robertson.
