Auckland's filthiest restaurants have been revealed in shocking photographs taken by council inspectors.
Twenty-seven restaurants inspected by the Auckland Council received either D or E grades for breaches including poor cleaning, hygiene and food storage, pest control issues, and deficient temperature control.
Pictures taken by inspectors include a cockroach-infested freezer, filthy kitchen surfaces, dirty floors and buckets of wet and mouldy food.
All of the restaurants complied with the notice requirements issued by the council and have since attained an A grade.
