Toyota Australia has issued a recall of more than 30,000 Kluger SUVs to fix a fault that may cause the large cars' front bumper to detach while driving.

In total, 30,205 affected units are being recalled. This covers all models of the newest-generation Kluger including the Hybrid AWD 2.5L, Kluger Petrol 2WD 2.4L, Kluger Petrol 2WD 3.5L, Kluger Petrol AWD 2.4L, Kluger Petrol AWD 3.5L which have been in showrooms since 2021.

"The lower resin bumper cover may detach if damaged during vehicle operation," said the official recall notice issued by the Australian Governments' Department of Infrastructure.

"If the lower bumper detaches, it could cause a potential road hazard and increase the risk of an accident and serious injury or death to vehicle occupants and/or other road users," the notice warns.

Affected owners are being contacted by Toyota Australia and are requested to make an appointment to have their vehicles inspected and have improved fasteners installed, free of charge.
