A woman is outraged after India's national carrier gave her chicken instead of the vegetarian in-flight meal she had ordered.
Mumbai woman Veera Jain said on X, formerly known as Twitter, that she was served a chicken meal - labelled as being 'vegetarian' - on the Air India flight from Calicut.
"I was served a veg meal with chicken pieces in it! I boarded the flight from Calicut Airport," she wrote alongside images of the food she was served.
"This was a flight that was supposed to take off at 18:40pm but left the airport at 19:40pm... First the delay, then the non-veg in my vegetarian meal. This is highly disappointing and it has hurt my sentiments."
Jain insisted that Air India should "take strict action on its catering services and delays."
"And I would suggest everyone - Please check thoroughly what you consume on a flight," she added.
"After two extremely delayed flights... and nonveg [sic] served I have lost trust in all of the airline food now."
According to Jain, Air India has since apologised for the incident, but not publicly.
"For the issue raised, they have only given me apologies via DM [direct message]," she wrote.
"I don't understand how it is not a realisation for them that this is a case of hurting sentiments."
Air India has yet to comment on the incident to local media.
