Talk Money: July 27

Responsible investing is growing in popularity in New Zealand.

The money invested in ethical investments grew by 28 percent last year to $78.7 billion.

The Responsible Investment Association Australasia says vast bulk of that was invested by the NZ Super Fund and ACC.

But ethical investing is also growing in popularity among investment funds like KiwiSaver.

There is around $1.6 billion invested in "core responsible investment funds." That is an increase of 18 percent from the year before.

The Association says the 1 - 5 year returns for ethical investment funds beat the wider market in Australia and have performed well over ten years internationally.
