The former Australia editor for BBC News has been appointed Newshub's head of digital news.
Shaun Davies will start the new role at Mediaworks' Auckland office on September 19, bringing extensive experience from a number of international media outlets including The Australian, The Sunday Telegraph and the Sydney Morning Herald.
Mediaworks chief news officer Hal Crawford welcomed the appointment, saying Mr Davies "clearly understands the needs of his audience".
"His experience across a range of digital roles and global news services means he is well-suited to continue driving the strong growth Newshub has shown in the digital space since launch."
Mr Davies was most recently the Australia editor for BBC News, has also held roles at ninemsn, including managing editor, and worked for News Limited.
