Dame Julie Christie is stepping down from the board of MediaWorks, saying it's time for her to "do other things".
She will finish up at Mediaworks, which owns Newshub, on June 30 and return to television production.
"I've had a much-needed break from actually producing television but now I really want to be able to develop some new ideas, specifically in international documentary," Dame Julie says.
She has previously been responsible for bringing reality television shows like My House My Castle, Game of Two Halves and Treasure Island to New Zealand screens.
Dame Julie will also take on two new board roles with Development West Coast and New Zealand's World Expo 2020 project.
"I think it's important that directors refresh their governance portfolios regularly and that boards refresh their skill set regularly," she says.
She has been on the MediaWorks board since August 2013.
Company chairman Jack Matthews thanked Dame Julie for her contributions to the company.
"MediaWorks has worked to fundamentally transform its business during this time, and Julie has been a major part of that. We wish her success in her new adventures."
Dame Julie was appointed a Dame Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit earlier this month for her services to governance and the television industry.
