Aotearoa-owned carrier Air New Zealand has clinched yet another top airline award - this time from luxury lifestyle and travel magazine Condé Nast Traveler.

The publication created a list of the top 20 airlines outside of the US, and Air New Zealand came out on top - ahead of the likes of Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines and Emirates.

Explaining the rationale behind awarding Air New Zealand top spot, the list's curators said it came down to the quality of its seating.

"With some of the longest flights in the world, the Kiwi carrier pays close attention to seat comfort," it said.

"Legroom is ample on its wide-body planes, and they also boast lie-flat economy seats - or 'Skycouch' - which becomes a pull-out double bed," it said.

"Business fliers on a budget can opt for the premium economy 'Spaceseat' - a pod-like seat with extra legroom - and all classes get that famed New Zealand wine."

Condé Nast Traveler also curated a list of New Zealand and Australia's top hotels.

While Australia dominated the category, boutique Christchurch hotel The George grabbed seventh spot, while The Langham in Auckland's CBD claimed 12th.

New Zealand failed to get a mention in its best city, best island or worldwide best hotel lists.
