Matchmaking with Kiwi inventors and Chinese investors

There was some unusual matchmaking taking place in Auckland on Monday involving green fairies, hair products and cashed-up Chinese investors.

China is New Zealand's second biggest export market after Australia, worth about $12 billion.

More than a third is generated by dairy, but this summit is not interested in basic commodities, it's all about adding high-tech value.

"If it's made in NZ and has partnership in China the content will be translated but a lot of the message that are key to New Zealand will be able to transcend to Chinese audiences and that is really important to us," Green Fairy's Alejandro Davila says.

In the last three years, companies like Rocket Lab and Soul Machines have pushed New Zealand's high-tech industry above the international radar.
