Queenstown punter scoops $1 million in Lotto win

A casual $1 million will be a welcome cash injection for a Queenstown resident, who took out Lotto's first division win in Saturday night's draw.

The ticket, bought at Wakatipu New World, is one piece of good news in the wake of New Zealand's failure to take home Powerball.

That has now rolled over to Wednesday night, where the jackpot will be boosted and reach a whopping $18 million.

The winning numbers were 5, 13, 15, 22, 24 and 29. The bonus number was 38, the Powerball 8. Strike was 13, 15, 22 and 5.

Both winners of tonight's Strike Four, meanwhile, bought their tickets at a Paper Plus in Wanaka - just an hour's drive away from the Queenstown winner. The pair scooped up $100,000 each as a result of their victory.

The three winners will likely be more pleased than most with their respective Lotto triumphs, given they live in or near the most expensive place to live in New Zealand.
