Black Friday sale sees flight prices drop drastically

  • 24/11/2017

Prices on a number of flights to the globe's top destinations have been slashed to record levels amid the madness of Black Friday sales.

Travel agents and airlines have got in on the act, offering super-cheap deals on flights to a host of cities in the US, the Pacific Islands and Asia.

Flight Centre has introduced a $499 return ticket to Hawaii per person deal for two adults and two children early next year, and is also offering return flights for one ticket for $599.

The travel agent has also unveiled $499 return flights between Auckland and a number of Pacific Islands, including Fiji, Samoa, Rarotonga and New Caledonia.

Helloworld has joined Flight Centre in offering $599 return flights to Honolulu, but has also provided major discounts on other fares - the standouts being $669 return flights to the US, Japan, China, Hong Kong and Vietnam.

Air New Zealand is also embracing discounts this Black Friday, offering $399 per way tickets to several Asian destinations and $299 tickets to Hawaii for early 2018.

Flights to Los Angeles and San Francisco with the airline are $499, and to Houston are $549.

The price drops are likely to further spur New Zealand's thirst for travel, after Stats NZ revealed we'd reached a record high of 2.83 million overseas trips in the year to October 2017.
