Ikea's NZ location set to be revealed

Anticipation is mounting as retail giant Ikea is set to reveal its plans for New Zealand.

The Swedish company has created buzz, after announcing last year it wants to set up shop on our shores.

The announcement will be made by the company's global chief executive in Auckland, later this morning.

More than 19,000 people liked a Facebook page Bring Ikea to NZ, which has now changed its name to Ikea is Coming to NZ.

The announcement on the format and location is expected to be made at The Cloud on Auckland's waterfront on Friday morning.

If a classic big-box store is announced, speculation has centred on west Auckland's sprawling Westgate complex and Drury, which would be more accessible to shoppers from Hamilton.

Other options include a smaller store in a central location such as Newmarket, or an even smaller outlet focused on click-and-collect purchases.
