Aussie family win Lotto with late father's lucky numbers

An Australian man's lucky Lotto numbers have helped his family win more than $400,000 - two years after his death.

The Melbourne-based Heidelberg-West family won the first division prize on the weekend's Tatts Lotto draw, having used their late father's lucky lottery numbers.

"It's a family syndicate, there are 11 of us and they are actually my father's numbers," the syndicate leader told 7 News.

"He passed away about two years ago, but we kept playing them to honour him.

"He'd been playing them for years and years before that too so I'm quite excited we've finally had a win."

In total, the family won NZ$427,405.20.

The family plan to celebrate the win with a family party.
