Not sure if you've been keeping up with the Joneses?

Statistics NZ has released a new tool that allows you to see just how well you're doing financially compared to the rest of New Zealand.

You select your household type - whether you're a couple, have kids or not, how much assets and debt you have, and what you earn, and Statistics NZ's 'How wealthy am I?' tool does the rest.

"Using this tool, you could create a graph comparing your household's net worth with other households," said labour market and households senior manager Jason Attewell.

"For example, if you live with your partner and children, you could compare your assets and debt with other households with children."

The data is sourced from Statistics NZ's household net worth statistics.

If you're wondering, at the end of 2018 the median net worth of households in New Zealand was $340,000 - but it's heavily concentrated, with just 20 percent owning 70 percent of all net worth.

People under 24 had the lowest net worth - $2000 median - and people eligible superannuation the highest ($416,000 median).
