Protest at Pak'nSave after owners pulls redundancy offer

Workers have been picketing outside an Auckland Pak'nSave this week after their redundancy deal was trashed.

In July, employees were promised a lump sum payment which was first halved, then totally revoked

FIRST Union Organiser Mikee Santos says the workers deserve better treatment.

"They're losing their jobs, they're in limbo, and they don't have any assurance of getting another one. And then at the 11th hour... they are getting steamrolled."

The Henderson branch is set for demolition in October so a bigger one can be built.

Employees are picketing outside the branch this weekend. Santos says some of the workers have been there for over a decade.

The new supermarket is set to open in 2021.
