Lotto results: Powerball rises to $15 million for Christmas Day draw

There's a chance for one lucky Kiwi to become an instant multi-millionaire this Christmas.

The first division prize in Saturday night's draw was split five ways, each taking home $200,000 - but the Powerball was missed. The winning tickets were sold in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin and Waikanae.

Powerball will now rise to $15 million for Christmas Day's draw.

"Retail stores are closed on Wednesday 25 December so remember to buy your tickets early in store," Lotto said in a statement.

"You can purchase on MyLotto or the Lotto NZ App as normal until 7:30pm on Christmas Day."

Eleven people won second division, nabbing $27,639 each - which will certainly come in handy for last-minute shopping.

Strike wasn't won either, so will be a must-win $1 million draw on Christmas Day.

The winning numbers were 7, 9, 14, 18, 20 and 34. The Powerball was 5, the Bonus ball 8. Strike was 9, 14, 34 and 7.
