Lotto: Kiwis urged to get tickets in time for $35m Powerball

One of the biggest-ever Powerball jackpots is up for grabs - and Kiwis are being urged to get their tickets before the cut-off time.

Lotto stores stop selling at 7:30pm, so get in before the last-minute queues are too long.

Tickets are also available on the MyLotto site, with sales also closing at 7:30pm.

"The excitement is building in Lotto stores all around the country as the jackpot continues to grow," Lotto spokesperson Marie Winfield said on Thursday, after no one hit the jackpot on Wednesday night.

"It's a life-changing amount and if a single player is lucky enough to win the Powerball jackpot on Saturday night, it will be the second-largest prize ever won in New Zealand."

The only prize bigger won by a single ticket was $44 million won by a Hibiscus Coast couple in 2016.

The draw will take place at 8pm - check the Newshub site afterwards for the results.
