Lotto: Palmerston North player wins gigantic $14.3 million

A lucky Palmerston North Lotto player will be celebrating after winning a massive $14.3 million in Wednesday night's Lotto draw.

The winning ticket was sold at Melody's New World in Palmerston North. The cash prize is made up of $14 million from Powerball first division and $333,333 from Lotto first division.

It's the biggest lot won by a single Powerball player since February, when two Auckland players took home $25.1 million each after splitting a historic $50 million draw.

Three weeks ago, a Morrinsville player who purchased their ticket at the local Paper Plus won $5.5 million. However, they are yet to claim their winnings.

Also celebrating on Wednesday night would have been two players from Ashburton and Kaiapoi, who each won $333,333 with Lotto first division. The Ashburton winner purchased their ticket through MyLotto and the Kaiapoi player got theirs at the town's New World.

Strike Four was also won by a player in Christchurch, who took home $200,000. This ticket was purchased at the Wainoni Pak'nSave.

"Anyone who bought their ticket from any of the above winning stores should write their name on the back of their ticket and check it at any Lotto NZ outlet, online at MyLotto.co.nz or through the Lotto NZ App," Lotto says.

"Players can phone Lotto NZ on 0800 695 6886 if they want to enquire about the best way to claim a prize."
