Why are fruit and vegetable prices sky-high amid the COVID-19 lockdown?

Fruit and vegetable prices have soared to the highest level in a decade.

Produce prices generally rise in winter as summer produce goes out of season, Statistics New Zealand says. 

United Fresh president Jerry Prendergast says in the past three months, simply not enough produce was grown.

He spoke to The AM Show about what's behind the sky-high prices.
