Gull slashes 20 cents per litre off fuel until Friday

Gull is offering some respite for motorists ahead of the busy Christmas season, slashing prices by 20 cents per litre.

The discounted price applies from 7am on Thursday until midday on Friday.

"It is only 10 days until Christmas and everyone is shopping and doing last-minute chores which means lots of motorists are on the road during the busiest month of the year," said Gull general manager Dave Bodger. "Gull wants to thank its many loyal New Zealand customers across the country with a 'ho ho ho' and big 20 cent per litre discount which is our Christmas cheer at the pumps this year."

With the discount, regular 91 petrol would average $2.15 across New Zealand, Gull said, while diesel would be about $2.05.

That 91 price was nearly 15 cents cheaper than the national average, as per the latest data from the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment.

Atiamuri, in the central North Island, would have the lowest-priced regular petrol at $1.85 per litre and also has the cheapest diesel at $1.75.

Looking at the main centres, Gull Portage Rd in the Auckland suburb of New Lynn was pricing 91 at $2.14 after the promotion got underway. In Christchurch, Gull Woolston had 91 for $2.07.

The discount comes a day after the Government announced its 25 cent cut to fuel excise duty would be phased out in the new year
