Jacinda Ardern and David Seymour's 'arrogant prick' transcript, 'military grade' tinfoil among Trade Me's top 2022 listings

A now-famous signed transcript of Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern calling ACT leader David Seymour an "arrogant prick" in Parliament has been named the most popular Trade Me listing of 2022 - despite only being on the site for less than a week.

The listing has hit $100,000, with all proceeds being donated to the Prostate Cancer Foundation, and had amassed more than 401,000 views as of Wednesday morning. The transcript was the sixth most-viewed Trade Me auction of all time, website spokesperson Millie Silvester said.

Coronavirus was again a theme in this year's most popular listings, with "COVID the rat" (an actual rat named COVID, not a rapid antigen test) collecting more than 75,000 views and over $200.

"Once again, we've seen how Kiwi humour can put a beautiful twist on everything," Silvester said.

"Seven out of the [top] 10 listings were raising money for a range of charities, including the Starship Radiology Department, St John New Zealand, supporting women in STEM, and everything in between. We love to see members supporting others, so we waive our listing fees for auctions like these."
