One lucky Kiwi has become an overnight millionaire after buying a ticket for Wednesday night's Lotto draw.

The winning ticket was purchased from Karaka Convenience in south Auckland.

While the winner didn't score the entire $17 million prize, due to Powerball not being struck, they will still be going home with the $1m First Division prize.

"Powerball was not struck this evening and has rolled over to Saturday night, where the jackpot will be $20 million," Lotto said in a statement on Wednesday.

"Strike Four has also rolled over… and will be $700,000 on Saturday night."

Meanwhile, another 16 winning Second Division tickets were purchased throughout New Zealand - all of whom won $17,963.

The winning Second Division tickets were purchased at Whangārei's Patels Foodmarket, Auckland's Clendon Post shop, Morrinsville's Paper Plus, Tauranga's Welcome Bay Foodmarket, Rotorua's New World Westend, Whanganui's Trafalgar Lotto and Invercargill's New World Windsor. The remaining winning tickets in Northland, Auckland (3), Lower Hutt, Christchurch and Ashburton were bought on the MyLotto app.

Meanwhile, two Lotto players from Palmerston North (New World Aokautere) and Carterton (MyLotto) also won Second Division Powerball - earning them $27,677 each.
