Lotto: Hawke's Bay Powerball player wins $8.3 million, another from Tauranga claims $700,00 – where winning tickets were sold

A Lotto player has had a life-changing Saturday after winning $8.3 million with Powerball First Division.

The winning ticket was sold on MyLotto to a player from Hawke's Bay.  

The prize is made up of $8 million from Powerball First Division and $333,333 from Lotto First Division.  

The winning numbers were 5, 10, 17, 28, 33 and 40. The bonus ball was 3 and the powerball was 3.  

Saturday night's winner was the second Powerball multi-millionaire of 2024 and comes just weeks after a $17.25 million Powerball prize was won by a player in Canterbury. The player is looking forward to investing their winnings.  

Two other lucky Lotto players will also be celebrating after winning $333,333 with Lotto First Division on Saturday. 

The winning tickets were sold at Four Square Red Beach on Auckland's Hibiscus Coast and on MyLotto to a player from Horowhenua.  

A lucky Strike player will also be celebrating after winning $700,000 with Strike Four. The winning Strike ticket was sold at Te Puna Four Square in Tauranga.  

Meanwhile, 21 Lotto players will be waking up richer on Sunday after each winning $12,965 with Second Division on Saturday evening. One lucky player also won Powerball Second Division, taking their total winnings to $30,837.  

The winning Powerball Second Division ticket was sold at Western Heights Foodmarket in Rotorua.  

The winning Second Division tickets were sold at stores in Northland, Waitakere, Auckland, Franklin, Rotorua, Tauranga, Mount Maunganui, Taupō, Whanganui, Palmerston North, Porirua, Wellington, Nelson, Marlborough,  Christchurch, Ashburton and Cromwell.

"Anyone who bought their ticket from any of the above stores or on MyLotto should check their ticket as soon as possible in-store, on MyLotto, or through the MyLotto App," a Lotto NZ spokesperson said.
