A Taranaki lotto player will be celebrating becoming $5.5 million richer after winning Powerball First Division in Wednesday night's draw.
The big win makes them New Zealand's thirteenth Powerball multi-millionaire of 2024.
The winning ticket, sold at Impulse Snacks & Lotto in Waitara, was made up of $5 million from Powerball First Division and $500,000 from Lotto First Division.
One other Lotto player also won $500,000 with Lotto First Division in Wednesday night's draw. Their winning ticket was sold at Pak N Save Mt Albert in Auckland.
But these big winners aren't the only ones starting their weekend celebrations early.
Twelve players each claimed $17,786 with Lotto Second Division in the draw.
One of those players also won Powerball Second Division, taking their total winnings to $30,878.
The winning Powerball Second Division ticket was sold on MyLotto to a player from Auckland. The winning Second Division tickets were sold at the following stores.
Lotto New Zealand advised anyone who bought their ticket from any of the above stores to check it as soon as possible in-store, on MyLotto, or through the MyLotto App.
Meanwhile, Strike Four has rolled over and will be $400,000 on Saturday night.
