A Christchurch taxi driver has been jailed for eight years for abducting and sexually assaulting a drunk female passenger.

Mohammed Daradkeh had wired the security camera in his car so it could be turned off.

The 19-year-old victim had been placed in his taxi by security staff at a city bar - and passed out owing to a mix of alcohol and medication she was taking.

Daradkeh drove her to a remote location, undressed her and sexually violated her, in an attack described by the judge as "planned and sophisticated".
