A Christchurch man has had a visit from the police after emailing his insurance company almost every day for the past four years.
They told him his campaign could be seen as harassment, but Cameron Preston insists he has always been polite.
"It has become increasingly difficult for Southern Response staff to manage communication with Mr Preston, given the progressively threatening, intimidating tone of his phone calls and emails," Southern Response says.
"On the advice of other Crown entities who have dealt with similar issues, we take any warning signals of this type of behaviour seriously."
The last straw for them was a reference to their chief executive Peter Rose.
