From October New Idea and Girlfriend magazines on New Zealand shelves will lose their local content, replaced by the Australian versions.
NZME, which also publishes the New Zealand Herald, has been producing the local versions under licence to Pacific Magazines for five years but in July decided to pull out.
Pacific Magazines chief executive Peter Zavecz says the Australian editions of the magazines would be distributed in New Zealand past the September 30 licence expiry date.
However, the other magazine NZME produced, that's life!, would continue with both Australian and New Zealand content.
NZME had employed 25 people producing the three magazines.
