A 23-year-old man is in hospital in Tauranga after being stabbed in the shoulder and abdomen today.
Police were called to an address in Greerton about 12pm, where the injured man was lying in the driveway.
He was taken to Tauranga Hospital with moderate to serious injuries.
After the stabbing, the 22-year-old male offender was inside the house with a two-year-old child who was known to him, police say.
However he had gone by the time police arrived and entered the house. They found him a short time later at a nearby address.
The child was taken from the property and reunited with her mother at the police cordon.
The offender will appear in Tauranga District Court tomorrow on a serious assault charge.
