Three teens in a stolen car who last night filmed themselves fleeing from police the wrong way down a busy Auckland motorway have appeared in court today, charged with reckless driving.

Police allege the stolen car was driven through residential streets in Manurewa on the wrong side of the road with no lights, and at times hitting 100km/h in a 50km/h zone.

The pursuit was twice abandoned by officers due to danger as the trio sped between the Southwestern Motorway and then onto the Southern.

Police say they are seeing an increasing trend emerging with young people, some as young as 10, forming groups online to steal multiple cars for chases, ram-raids and assaults, which are then being posted online.
