The man whose body was retrieved from the Waikato River yesterday has been identified as Hamilton local Phillip Mark Morris.
The 38-year-old had been reported missing on August 24, four days after he was seen leaving his home.
Police say there are no suspicious circumstances in relation to his death, which has now been referred to the coroner.
"The focus for police at this time is working to establish the circumstances of how he came to be in the river," Detective Paul Van der Zee said.
Efforts are underway to determine Mr Morris' movements between August 20 and when he was found.
