Two armed robberies that occurred within an hour of each other in Wellington overnight are being investigated.

Police say the first incident happened at about 11:30pm when an armed man, wearing a scarf over his face, held up a pizza delivery driver outside Domino's Pizza on Riddiford St.

The offender, who fled with the delivery driver's cash, is described as about 170cm tall, of slim build, and wearing a black top with white stripes on the shoulders.

Around an hour later, police say two men, both wearing ski masks, held up the Clock Work Gold Bar in the suburb of Tawa.

They left in one of the worker's cars, which was later found abandoned with an imitation firearm inside.

Anyone with information about the incidents is urged to contact police.
