Police have seized a number of firearms, ammunition and cannabis from a man in Canterbury.
The 29-year-old was arrested after a concerned member of the public rang the police yesterday afternoon when they saw him pushing a motorcycle in a residential street.
Police say the motorbike turned out to be stolen and the man had outstanding warrants for his arrest. He also had a modified .22 calibre rifle and ammunition on him.
A subsequent raid on an address at Teddington turned up a quantity of cannabis, two shotguns and a Taser.
The man is due to appear in Christchurch District Court today facing charges including unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition and unlawful possession of a motorcycle.
Police say more charges may also be laid as the investigation continues.
