A former Wellington school teacher convicted of sexually abusing one of her students looked stunned as the guilty verdicts were read out in court.
A jury of seven men and five women found the 30-year-old woman guilty of an indecent act against a child and six counts of sexual violation.
The woman's offending began when the boy was just 10 years old and continued until he was 13.
The family of both the woman and the now-teenage boy broke down in the public gallery, with the victim's uncle breathing a sigh of relief as the verdicts were read out.
The woman started weeping as she stood in the dock at the High Court.
The victim's family say they're relieved by the guilty verdicts, and it's the best outcome.
The defence has ordered a psychiatric report before she's sentenced next month, and will be fighting to keep her name permanently suppressed.
