Six fall ill at New Plymouth aquatic centre

Six people have been taken to hospital after falling ill at an aquatic centre in New Plymouth.

A St John spokesman says the five children and adult were suffering shortness of breath and sore throats - but their conditions were not thought to be serious.

A staff member at the Todd Energy Aquatic Centre confirmed the incident happened around 1pm.

WorkSafe New Zealand and the Fire Service are investigating.
