A group of Hamilton school children has set off on one of New Zealand's great walks for Conservation Week.
Year six students from Hillcrest Normal School won a competition months ago to be flown to trek the Abel Tasman on the top of the South Island and excitement has been building ever since.
The 31 students arrived in Nelson this morning, and for many it was their first time on a plane.
