Jury chosen for 'takeaway' trial

A jury has been sworn in for the trial of a man and woman accused of murdering Davinder Singh in Papatoetoe last year.

Amandeep Kaur, the victim's wife, and Gurjunder Singh, are on trial at the High Court in Auckland.

This morning a jury of nine men and three women was selected.

The Crown will begin its opening address to the court this afternoon, followed by the defence.

Kaur and Singh are accused of violently killing Mr Singh while he sat in his car eating takeaways in August last year.

He and Kaur have a child together who is in India.

The trial is set down for four weeks and is being translated through a court interpreter.
