He's one of the biggest names in modern-day hip-hop and now it's just been announced that Kendrick Lamar will be headlining the Auckland City Limits (ACL) festival in March 2016.

Kiwi fans will be rejoicing after the rap superstar pulled out from opening for Eminem earlier this year on the Rapture tour due to a "scheduling conflict". His place was taken by another popular rap group, Odd Future.

Auckland City Limits is being nick-named "the new Big Day Out" and is modelled off the popular Austin City Limits, a festival which spans two weekends and this year attracted more than 75,000 people.

Other notable acts set to play at ACL at Western Springs are American rapper Action Bronson, indie-rock band The National, Kiwi band The Naked and the Famous - well known for their hits  'Young Blood' and 'Punching in a Dream', and Wellington's The Phoenix Foundation.
