A man will appear in court today over two stabbing incidents in Waikato over the weekend.

Police believe one of the incidents involved the 52-year-old confronting one victim, a man, at a property on Merlot Pl in Hamilton yesterday.

It turned into "an altercation", with the victim chased into the garage of a neighbouring property where the altercation continued.

"The victim managed to make his way back to his home, where he was assisted by his family and neighbours," says Detective Senior Sergeant Ross Patterson.

He is now in a stable condition at Waikato Hospital.

Meanwhile, a second victim, a woman, "sustained stab wounds" at a third address, says Snr Sgt Patterson. She was treated at Waikato Hospital and has been discharged.

Police will conduct scene examinations today.

The 52-year-old man will appear in Hamilton District Court later today, charged with two counts of attempted murder.
