Police have named the man who died in a house fire in Ruakaka this morning as 79-year-old Noel Hendry.
The Fire Service was called to the residential address at 4:30am and Mr Hendry only was found after the fire had been extinguished.
Emergency services are investigating, and the cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
