A diver has died after being pulled from the water off Wellington's south coast.
Emergency services were called to the Lyall Bay area just before 5pm today after a group of divers reported one of their party was missing.
The police launch, a rescue helicopter and the airport marine team were all involved with the search, Senior Sergeant Grant Mumby told NZ Newswire.
The diver was found unresponsive in the water just before 5:30pm.
He was brought to shore, but attempts to revive him with CPR were unsuccessful.
Police remain at the scene.
Today's death comes just a little over a week after another diver was found dead on the sea floor further around the south coast, near Red Rocks.
