A number of community groups across the country can thank prisoners for the gifts they'll be receiving today.
For months inmates at facilities throughout New Zealand have been preparing food and presents for those less fortunate.
Deputy National Commissioner Rachel Leota, says it's a great way of giving back.

Prisoners will be served roast chicken for Christmas lunch this afternoon.
