Three men were rescued off the Waihaha River on the Western side of Lake Taupo last night.
The men, all aged 25, were walking from Waihaha Falls to the Lake when they decided to swim the rest of the way in the river.
Around 7pm they became tired, cold and stuck in dense bush. One of them called their father, who alerted police.
Search and rescue teams found them several hours later. They were unharmed and spent the night at a marae in Waihaha.
