Police have launched a homicide inquiry after a woman was found dead at a home in Auckland's Te Atatu Peninsula this evening.
The body of the 70-year-old was discovered by family members when they arrived at the address around 5:30pm today.
Neighbours say an ambulance, armed police, dog squads and a helicopter all swarmed the area.
The street is currently on lockdown and police have been escorting residents to their homes.
Police remain on site and a scene examination is underway.
