A New Zealand actor facing a raft of sex charges has won a bid to keep his identity a secret.

The actor previously pleaded not guilty to four charges of indecent assault, and two of sexual violation.

The actor appeared in court today casually dressed, and sat in the public gallery for much of the proceedings.

His lawyer told the court his client currently works as a contractor, and naming him would affect his ability to gain and maintain any work or income.

He also argued the alleged incidents had been fully investigated, and publishing the actor's identity was unlikely to lead to any further complainants.

The accused is due back in court in March.
