Mahana: Lee Tamahori's first NZ film in 20 years

Kiwi director Lee Tamahori is back with his first New Zealand film in 20 years.

"Mahana" is set on the East Coast in the 60's in a small bustling farming town where two prominent Maori families dominate the shearing community.

There is no love lost between the Mahanas and the Poatas, there is sheep shorn and much wool, tears and blood on the shearing shed floor before the reason for that rivalry is revealed.

It's the New Zealand premiere of the film and Story was there on the red carpet with director Mr Tamahori and actor Temerua Morrison.
